Meet Zachary G, our Business Development Project Manager at Tru Colors Contracting. Zack has been with Tru Colors for more than eight years and started here as a painter in 2014. A South Florida native, Zack was born and raised in Pompano Beach and attended Zion Lutheran Christian School in Deerfield Beach. Zack currently resides in South Florida with his three dogs Boo, Bear and Toby, which range in age from 1 to 9 years.
Zack has worked in the commercial paint industry since being a preteen. “I originally started out as a helper when I was 12. My father had a paint company and I worked for them during the summer months painting buildings. I remember, they would drop be off on a balcony and I would paint the area. They would later pick me up and I would go to the next floor,” Zack noted.
Both Zack and his father Kevin came to Tru Colors Contracting in 2014 with Zack working as a painter and Kevin as an estimator. “By the time I was nineteen, I started running jobs and was a crew leader. We started painting the interiors of Publix Stores and I soon spearheaded the mission,” Zack commented. The process required working nights and early mornings, while the stores were closed. “We spray painted all the new pipes in the ceilings, painted all the walls, along with painting the back rooms.”
In the role of Crew Leader at Tru Colors Contracting, Zack oversaw a team of fourteen. After Kevin’s death in 2021, Zack took on the role of Business Development Project Manager at Tru Colors Contracting and proudly sits at the desk Kevin once sat at.
A natural born athlete, Zack played basketball, baseball, soccer and football in his youth and also played on leagues in high school. With many family members from Pittsburgh, PA, Zack is an avid Steelers fan. Zack currently enjoys fishing, snorkeling and boating is his free time. The Smokey Mountains and the Florida Keys are among his favorite travel destinations. My girlfriend’s family has a house in the Smoky Mountains, and we enjoy side-by-sides, snowboarding and skiing during the winter, along with going to the nearby river with tubes in the summer.
Zack holds the numerous Publix projects he’s worked on as his most memorable and the ones he is most fond of. He is also proud of painting the exteriors of many South Florida landmark buildings , including the Dante Fascell and Joe Moretti apartments in Miami.
Converting many of the area Winn Dixie Pharmacies into walls, when they closed several years ago is a challenge Zack vividly remembers. We had a thirty-day time frame to close 60 Winn Dixie pharmacies. This entailed building a wall in front of each closing pharmacy, as well as building the frames for the walls and then painting them. We had just one month to complete the project and we were able finish the job on time,” concluded Zack.
